Online registration for admissions to government-run Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) will end on Tuesday (March 19).
K V Sangathan, an autonomous body functioning under the Union ministry for human resources development (MHRD), launched the portal on March 1.
There are nearly 1,200 KVs across the country. Though they are primarily for children of central government employees, KVs became more prominent after Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009 came into effect.
A total of 25% seats are reserved for children belonging to economically weaker sections and socially backward families under this Act.
Unlike private CBSE schools, there are no kindergarten sections in KVs and students are admitted to Class I onwards.
Admissions will begin after board exam results of Class X CBSE students are released.
Similarly, admissions to other Classes (from Class II onward expect Class XI) is expected to begin on April 2.
