National Talent Search Examination (NTSE-2019)

The National Talent Search Examination for students studying in Class X is meant to identify the nurture talent. The examination is conducted every year at two levels: State- I (State level) and Stage: II (National Level).
Scholarships No of scholarships: Up to 2000
Scholarship award:
  • Scholarship of Rs.1250/- per month for class XI to XII
  • Scholarship of Rs.2000/- per month for Under Graduates and Post- Graduates
  • Amount of Scholarship for PhD is fixed in accordance with the UGC norms

  • All students of Class X studying in recognized schools are eligible to appear for the Stage-I examination, conducted by the States/UTs, in which the schools are located. There will be no domicile restriction.
  • Students registered under open Distance Learning (ODL) will also be eligible for scholarship, provided the student is below the age of 18 years (as on 1st July of the particular year), the student is not employed and he/she is appearing in class X examination for the first time.

Selection process: Stage-I, selection will be done by States/UTs and those who are selected/recommended from Stage-I examination, will be eligible to appear for Stage-II examination, conducted by NCERT.

Qualifying Marks:
  • For SC/ST/PH category is 32%
  • For General/OBC/EWS is 40% in each paper

How to apply: Applicants can apply online mode only

Examination fee: Rs.200/-

Important dates:
  • Last date for submission of online application: 5th September, 2019.
  • Date of examination:
    • Stage-I (State exam)
      • Examination in Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Andaman and Nicobar Island: 2nd November, 2019.
      • Examination in All other States and Union Territories except above and below mentioned 9 states/UTs: 3rd November, 2019.
      • Examination in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, NCT of Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir: 17th November, 2019.
    • Stage-II (National exam):
      • Examination in All States and Union Territories: 10th May, 2020
