CSIR UGC NET Exam 2018

Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), invites applications from eligible applicants for admission into Junior Research Fellowship and Lectureship (JRF) programs through University Grant Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) Entrance Exam June 2018.

Adminissions Programme details:
CSIR will hold Joint CSIR-UGC Test for Junior Research Fellowship and Eligibility for Lectureship (NET) June, 2018 in (i) Chemical Sciences (ii) Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences (iii) Life Sciences (iv) Mathematics Sciences (v) Physical Sciences tentatively on Sunday the June 17th, 2018.

M. Sc or equivalent degree / Integrated BS-MS / BS-4 years / BE / B. Tech / B. Pharma / MBBS with at least 55% marks for general and OBC-Non Creamy layer applicants (Central list only as provided in National Commission for Backward Classes website ) and 50% for SC/ST, physically and Visually Handicapped applicants.

Applicants enrolled for M. Sc or having completed 10+2+3 years of the above qualifying examination as on the closing date of application form, are also eligible to apply in the above subject under the Result Awaited (RA) Category on the condition that they complete the qualifying degree with requisite percentage of marks within the validity period of two years to avail the fellowship from the effective date of award.

Such applicants will have to submit the attestation format (Given at the reverse of the application form) duly certified by the Head of the Dept. / Institute from where the applicant is appearing or has appeared.

B. Sc (Hons.) or equivalent degree holders or students enrolled in the Integrated M.S-PhD program with at least 55% marks for general and OBC (Non-Creamy layer) applicants; 50% marks for SC/ST, physically and visually handicapped applicants are also eligible to apply.

Applicants with bachelor’s degree will be eligible for CSIR fellowship only after getting registered/ enrolled for PhD/Integrated PhD program within the validity period of two years.

The eligibility for lectureship of NET qualified applicants will be subject to fulfilling the criteria laid down by UGC. PhD degree holders who have passed Master’s degree prior to 19th Sept-1991, with at least 50% marks are eligible to apply for Lectureship only.

Age Limit & Relaxation:

  • For JRF (NET): Maximum 28 years as on 01st January 2018 (Upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in case of applicants belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/ Physically Handicapped/Visually Handicapped and Female applicants).
  • For LS (NET): No upper age limit.

How to apply:
Examination Fee for Online Application: Applicants applying for the Test may deposit their Examination fee in any branch of the Indian Bank throughout the country by paying the following fee in cash:
General – Rs.1000/-; Other Backward Classes (OBC) – Non Creamy Layer – Rs.500/-; SC/ST/Physically Handicapped (PH) or Visually Handicapped (VH) – Rs.250/-.

Srinagar and Imphal applicants may deposit their fees through RTGS or NEFT by giving particulars of the Indian Bank, as notified in the fee deposit challan.

OBC applicants who are not covered under the provisions as applicable to OBC – Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) applicants shall be treated as a General Category applicants for all purposes.

Important dates:
  • Tentative Date of Single MCQ Examination: 17th June, 2018.
  • Date of close of online application Form: 26th March, 2018.
  • Last date for receipt of the written request for change of exam centre: 19th April, 2018.
  • Tentative Date of Publication of List of Applicants Registered for Test: 18th May, 2018.
  • The issue of E-Admit Card to Registered Applicants: 01st week of June, 2018.
